Some researchers also assume that frequent watching of horror films leads to the pressure increase, headaches, tension of the nervous system and other negative consequences. Regular watching of similar films prompts the level of aggression to raise and the quality of a dream to fall considerably (Hunt).Horror movies of the 1980s existed at the glorious watershed when special visual effects finally caught up with the gory imaginings of horror fans and movie makers. Technical advances in the field of animatronics, and liquid and foam latex meant that the human frame could be distorted to an entirely new dimension, onscreen, in realistic close up.Horror has been a long time one of the most popular categories of films in the movie industry. People liked to watch horror films to be afraid and to outdo their fears: “On a psychological level, the horror film dramatizes our nightmares, so that we can confront them” (Sigmund Freud, p.644).
There are plenty of cases in which the violent scenes in horror movies had an impact on the physical and psychological stability of people. It generates fear, anxiety, sleeplessness, phobia and mental trauma while frequent viewing also helps people to desensitize with anxiety and fear.Watching horror movies; a part of human nature to enjoy scary feeling: Some people love to watch horror movies. Others wish to see horror movie but are scared to watch it at night. Actually it’s the nature of every human being to feel variety or bring change in life.
It sure caught my attention when you said that watching movies like horror films could trigger your heart to pump out adrenaline and makes your body experience a desensitizing effect. I am planning on attending the Sacrament Film Festival to immerse myself in different horror films. Watching these films make me feel excited and alive.
